UP Uttar Pradesh Anganwadi Worker Recruitment 2026

The Department of Women and Child Development (Integrated Child Development Services - ICDS), Uttar Pradesh, has launched its extensive recruitment drive for Anganwadi Workers (Karyakarti) and Helpers (Sahayika) across various districts. Aimed at strengthening grassroot healthcare, nutrition, and early childhood education, this massive recruitment offers stable government-backed livelihood opportunities exclusively for female candidates within the state.

Because this recruitment is conducted on a district-wise basis, different zones within UP are opening registration portals at varying times, with active deadlines extending into July 2026 for newly announced districts.

 Important Dates and Timeline

Because notifications are issued on a district-by-district model, deadlines vary depending on where you reside:

  • Registration Portals: Ongoing / District-wise releases.

  • Recent Active Pipelines: Districts like Kanpur Nagar (259 posts), Prayagraj (137 posts), and Bijnor (41 posts) have registration windows open until July 15, 2026.

  • Lalitpur District Deadline: July 9, 2026.

Candidates must keep checking the centralized portal to track when applications open for their specific ward or village panchayat.

 Post-Wise Eligibility Criteria

The recruitment strictly invites applications from female candidates who are permanent, local residents of the exact Gram Sabha, ward, or Nyaya Panchayat from which they are applying.

1. Educational Qualifications

  • Anganwadi Worker (Karyakarti): Candidates must have passed the Intermediate (10+2) or equivalent examination from a recognized education board.

  • Anganwadi Helper (Sahayika): Candidates must have passed at least High School (10th Class) or equivalent to apply for assistive posts.

2. Age Limit (As of January 1, 2026)

  • Minimum Age: 18 years

  • Maximum Age: 35 years

  • Note: Standard age relaxations apply for reserved category candidates as per UP State Government rules.

 Application Fee

To ensure equal opportunity and maximum outreach across rural and urban sectors, the Uttar Pradesh government has exempted all candidates from application fees:

  • General / OBC / EWS: ₹0/-

  • SC / ST / PH / Female: ₹0/-

 Selection Process: Completely Merit-Based

One of the most appealing aspects of the UP Anganwadi Bharti is its transparency: there is no written examination or interview phase.

  1. Merit Preparation: Candidates are selected purely on a merit list prepared by calculating academic marks securely obtained in High School, Intermediate, and higher degrees if applicable.

  2. Locality Preference: Prioritization is strictly given to locals of the specific village panchayat or municipal ward.

  3. Socio-economic Preference: Additional preference is extended to candidates who are widows, divorced, or belong to families living Below the Poverty Line (BPL) as per state mandate.
