The Indian Air Force has released the notification for Agniveer Vayu Recruitment 2026 (Intake 02/2027) under the Agnipath scheme. Both unmarried Indian males and females are eligible to apply through the official recruitment website. This is a golden opportunity for young Indians who dream of serving the nation in uniform, even if on a short-service basis.
In the previous Agniveer Vayu Intake (01/2027), more than 36,20,845 applications were received, showing the immense level of competition. This year's 02/2027 intake is also expected to be highly competitive, so candidates must prepare seriously to secure their selection.
Important Dates
Online applications can be submitted from 11:00 AM on 06 July 2026 till 11:00 PM on 26 July 2026. Only applications received in online mode will be considered. The selection test will be conducted on 22 to 23 September 2026.

Eligibility Criteria
Age Limit
As per the Indian Airforce Agniveer Notification, candidates should have been born between 01 July 2005 and 01 January 2010 for Agniveer Vayu, and the age limit is 22 years at the time of enrolment.
Educational Qualification
For the Science stream, candidates must have passed 10+2 with Mathematics, Physics, and English with at least 50% marks in aggregate and 50% marks in English. For other streams, candidates must have passed 10+2 in any stream with 50% marks in aggregate, including English.
Candidates who passed a two-year vocational course with minimum 50% marks in aggregate and 50% marks in English are also eligible. Candidates eligible for the Science subjects exam are also eligible for the Other than Science subjects exam, and such candidates will be given the option to appear in both in one sitting while filling the online registration form.

- Upload required documents, photograph, and signature.

Selection Process
The selection process includes Phase I (Online Test), Phase II (Physical Fitness Test I & II, Adaptability Test-I & Adaptability Test-II), and Phase III (Medical Examination).
Phase I — Online Written Test
The online test will be objective type and questions will be bilingual (English & Hindi), except for the English paper. The online test for candidates opting for both Science subjects and Other than Science subjects shall be conducted in one sitting on the same system.
For Science subjects, the total duration of the online test shall be 60 minutes and will include the subjects of English, Physics, and Mathematics from the 10+2 CBSE syllabus.
There is negative marking — one full mark is deducted for each incorrect response — demanding a disciplined and accuracy-first approach to the examination.
Phase II — Physical Fitness Test (PFT)
The Physical Fitness Test is conducted to check the physical strength and stamina of candidates. It includes a running test followed by strength-based exercises. PFT-I requires a 1.6 km run (Male – 7 minutes, Female – 8 minutes), and PFT-II consists of push-ups, sit-ups, and squats as per IAF standards.
Phase II also includes Adaptability Tests I and II to assess a candidate's mental and situational flexibility.
Phase III — Medical Examination
Candidates who clear all previous stages undergo a detailed medical check-up. This is the final stage before the merit list is prepared.
Admit Card
Eligible candidates will be sent provisional admit cards for Phase I testing on their registered e-mail IDs 48–72 hours prior to the examination. These can also be downloaded from the CASB web portal at https://agnipathvayu.cdac.in. Candidates are required to bring one blue/black pen and their original Aadhaar card to the Phase I testing centre.
Salary & Benefits
Agniveer Vayu is offered a package of ₹30,000/- per month with a fixed annual increment. In addition, allowances such as risk, hardship (as applicable), dress, travelling, ration, clothing, accommodation, and LTC are also provided as per extant rules.
The starting annual package will be Rs 4.76 lakh, which can be increased to Rs 6.92 lakh by the end of service. There will be allowances and non-contributory insurance cover as well.
Agniveer Vayu will also be given a non-contributory life insurance policy of Rs 48 lakhs for the lifetime of their engagement in the Indian Air Force.
After completing the four-year tenure, candidates receive the Seva Nidhi package (around ₹11.71 lakh) and priority consideration for various government and private-sector jobs.
Exam Preparation Tips
For the X Group (Technical), which is more competitive due to Physics and Mathematics requirements, candidates should start with NCERT Class 11–12 books and then practice previous year Agniveer Vayu papers. English and Reasoning carry significant marks, so candidates should not neglect them. Reading a daily newspaper and following current affairs for the past six months is advisable. Begin running 1.6 km daily and progressively improve your time to under six minutes, while including push-ups, sit-ups, and squats in your daily fitness routine.
